I really liked this novel, and especially the soul of the story. I get that the narrators voicing of characters may frustrate some, as it does seem a bit cartoonish at times. But I wouldn’t let that overshadow a really great story that takes you on an unexpected journey all round. Loose ends galore but..

The story and characters are captivating and interesting. I just wish the author would have spent ten minutes researching Japanese family names, titles, and honorifics! You rarely find the title “father” without the honorific prefix O (great)…meaning it should be written Otou-San, not tousan (especially someone as important as a Matsuda) and no one except..

I loved that I was kept guessing throughout the book. Even at the end, I know the next book is going to be just as good!
I absolutely loved this book would have enjoyed a 2nd as well, it made me cry and happy would definitely recommend to someone else
