I had a hard time with the story line. I at times found myself almost rooting for the bad guys. Granted I have never been in a situation like this family but had I been, I would like to think I would have done better than they did. They were far too trusting and passive..
A good story plagued by the narrator mispronouncing most of the Japanese words. He does a decent job with the rest of the performance but I kept getting distracted by the mistakes.

A tab to much drama in this one. It’s like it was written for a bad c rated movie. Half way through this series I was mocking the characters. I’ve enjoyed other books by this author. Not this one so much.
I wasn’t sure at the beginning but so pleased I had stuck with it. Really enjoyed it.

This book started out REALLY slow for me. Then Bam! I was super into it. The magic system seemed really cool. You aren’t let in on how it all works which is actually kind of fun. The end though….. it left so many unanswered questions. This was a good book and I’m glad I listened…

An amazing story altogether the performance was a little lacking at certain points, but overall an amazing book and an amazing listen. There were a few points where I felt pulled out of the story by flashbacks but other than that, the writing style and tempo of the book were great. Definitely recommend to anybody..
