Dramatic details and surprises. We never know what exactly they will find, but it hardly ever is good people sadly. Glad the author puts in a few people along their trip that help them get away and prove other good people still exist.

Plot does not get too complicated to follow through the whole trip. Almost could feel like I was riding along with them during the struggle. Each book has its own unique storyline the family have to struggle through. All are realistic and sad. Am going to say, thank goodness that he was a prepared more than others.
