I think that this is a nice way to start a new series in the apocalypse genre. plenty of action and human decency from the main character. this is my first book from this author so a few things seem familiar from other apocalyptic stories but it was not distracting.
It was nice to hear some of the psychological damage done by massive system, integration earth happening. Niles gets more entertaining the longer that you listen to and overall this was just entertaining and it really made you think about a lot of what the survivors were going through.
I loved this book, Just a warning that book 6 thru the rest of the series is a credit for each book. The following books are about 4 hours long.
Combine the melodrama with too many “perils of Pauline” and the narrator who comes across with a “gee whiz” kind of performance, I’m afraid I have to give up on this outhor.
Easy to listen to. No infuriating villains that can’t seem to get dead fast enough. MC is practical and has common sense. No harrem BS. Generally speaking, the story is a very good listen that has a good pace and has few frustrations.
Characters made really dumb decisions and for the most part were a bunch of pansies, including but not limited to Colton who was supposed to be a former marine.
I slogged through all six volumes (in the final 2 praying that I would finish SOON.) The story line is quite implausible. A group of survivors who are eeking out a living in the hills after an EMP, and they run into every manner of bad guy and natural disaster you can think of. Main..
McCoy gets basic things wrong about so much. This is closer to fan fiction than an accurate retelling of the Norse Mythos.
