The story was very engaging, and the narrator did a good job describing the action and such. When it came to delivering dialog, the narration had strange inflections at times, and was monotonous at others, making the dialog feel unbalanced and at times, not much like dialog. The voices were distinct enough and the narrator..
Totally lost me at the point where they start reflecting that no one in politics and society had any morals or ethics, and that’s why the world ended up in that state, with nothing having been said before their self-reflection.

Andrew Tell and character attitude and development makes this my go to binge listening. Just voice, no music, perfect.
The fact that no spoilers for the next book is even an issue, points to Miller’s questionable decisions. Luckily he didn’t repeat his spoilers from Dark Road 15, Dark waters 1. Otherwise an excellent book. The 4/5 is for the spoilers from book 1.
I loved this entry in the saga. This is the best it’s been since the conflict in New Haven Indiana. I’ve read every book in the original series and the Durango chronicles, this is my new favorite!
One of the best standalone fantasies I have ever read!! The character arcs and growth were incredible. There is room for the book to develop into another story, but it won’t which makes me sad. It says something that I went from hating a character for a majority of the book to liking them at..
Story promises so much, interesting plots that aren’t followed up on or go anywhere. Rest of it doesn’t go anywhere. Is it going to be part of a series? Is their a follow up or second part coming? Story is surely unfinished.
Laurel and Bear are believable characters, trying to navigate a world devastated by an EMP. With plausible survival details, the family-focused story keeps you interested—an excellent series for anyone who enjoys post-apocalyptic fiction. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
