I was skeptical about this book to start with, but it proved to be simply wonderful. The character development is first rate, the action scenes are very well done, and the story is gripping and memorable. It does seem a little slow at the start, but if you keep with it, you won’t be disappointed!

Slower, character based story. Very satisfying!

Would recommend to those trying to cross into fantasy from contemporary dramas. The development/growth of the characters are the focus here so the pacing is slower. The violence, while gruesome at times, tends to focus more on the characters’ response and associated emotions than gory descriptions. Well worth the Listen!
This is likely going to be the hardest review I’ve ever tried to put into words…this book is that good and the depth of it is difficult to fathom. all of the rave reviews are no joke…I usually look at a few to get a sampling of a book but rarely put too much stock..
Starts out well, looses direction.

The books are entertaining as a survival / science fiction story, but it doesn’t do well when it tries to transition to a space opera / epic. Book 1 stays on focus and tells a coherent story. Book 2 stays within the same scenario, but is told from a different perspective. Book 3 goes off..
