Review from Protector of the Grove →
The angry prostitute should have died far sooner or been developed into a real person, total drag on the storyline. Nice use of a feudal society that’s not European. It would be priceless to see a stand alone universe from a writer who could really pull it off.
I’m not sure how anyone who is not interested in the source material could read all this, nor how anyone interested in it could permit themselves to so brutally massacre the pronunciations of even the simplest names or characters and places. The content is great – the reading, not so much.
plot of decent but the first 1/3rd of the book was a about guys life before entering the new world which was bland and lacking any type of reason, so after that you get into the meat of the story but the transition from fights, self contemplation and switch between first and 3rd person perspective..
I really enjoyed listening to this series. I read the books awhile back, but listening added another level of enjoyment. The narration is well done. I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys this genre.
Definitely inspired by other authors and videos as he frequently references them. Lacks in realism at times and size comparison is off at times with the feats that some dinosaurs did but all in all it has achieved the feel of a B movie as I got the impression was the intended desire. All in..
For me, the best series make me want to keep up with what is happening in the lives of the characters. This didn’t do that for me. I don’t know if it is the writing, the reader, or a combo. I did get minor interest in Bob Ross, the rock, and the Chief of Police,..
I enjoyed the book. It’s a little too pat here and there, but I would certainly recommend it. I’m not sure if this is a series, but would not pursue it further.
Review from Carry On: Stan Zuray’s Journey from Boston Greaser to Alaskan Homesteader →
I first heard of Stan on his show and learned of this book and had to read it. I would liked to hear more details of his struggles from the lower 48 to Alaska, perhaps another book will cover this. Entertaining. The reader did a fine job.
