I gave up. The characters were, as others have commented, very stereotyped. The story was slow and didn’t grip me. I didn’t warm to any of the characters either. And the narration was boring with very poor accents. One character who was supposed to be Glaswegian, (my daughter lives in Glasgow so I do know..

loved the characters and the intriguing plot with a twist at each turn. I didn’t guess who’d done it but it hung together really well
I love following Bev and the characters as they discover magic and assuage danger! Also, so far these stories do not involve horrific deaths or terribly evil characters. Nice, cosy, & all have been well written and perfectly narrated.

It’s like Nancy Drew, set in the 1600’s. Magic and mysteries and food I’m dying to try.
I love this series and recommend it very highly. I can’t wait for more! The author is brilliant and the narrator is a great match.
Interesting plot by lines, surprising twists, interesting and engaging characters. Ann Cleaves’ “Vera”novels are darker but if you like them you are likely to enjoy NC Lewis’s “Bones” series too.

I’ve listened to all of the previous DI Sallow series. I enjoyed the first few…but the quality has diminished over time and hit bottom with this one. Too many over used descriptions, a weak storyline…and a new morbidity that doesn’t woo the reader. Disappointing!
