As someone who hates Godzilla, I was pleasantly surprised. The story is much much better than just “mindless giant lizard wrecks city”. The characters are awesome and the narrator absolutely kills it.
Great book

Great writing…great story. my only complaint the healing process…spoiler alert. you loose not only your wife but a kid as well. now your in love so quickly…so rushed… I would have loved too see some time pass before he was all back too normal. it would have made a better connection with the audience.
I listened to this because I love the movie and the movie is an incredibly faithful adaptation, so, of course, I loved the novel. It was great and I recommend it to any horror fan.
As my first book of Barker’s that isn’t related to the Hellbound Heart, I had a great time listening to The Books of Blood. I’m addicted to Clive Barker.
MK Gibson continues to impress me with his approach to writing and how to properly handle writing an audiobook. I don’t know if Gibby or Jeff had more fun with this. The surprise cameo on the audiobook was A+. If you are looking for a series to dig into and end wanting more, this is..
This book was a killer sequel to the first book. Same great writing and performances. The Shadow Master continues to display why he is the Shadow Master. I don’t like writing long reviews, but the fact that I am writing one hopefully convinces you to give this series a try.
Narration–Excellent: baritone appropriate for material, clear pronunciation, comfortable pace, varied inflection, accents affected inaccurately, but no big deal. Recommendation–Fin listen: plot familiar but interesting, character development very good, shifts in time are credible, interesting facts holds attention. I get intellectual vertigo from the many shifts in time, but still a worthwhile listen. Evaluation=Good/Very Good.
Let me start with the positive: I loved the setting. The author really nailed the atmosphere of Appalachia Kentucky. Also, Owen, Levi, and Cassie were absolutely fantastic characters. Also, the premise of a time flux taking people backwards through time was really cool. In fact, the first half of the book was breathtakingly good. Exciting..
