Although the narrator had a southern accent, which should have added to the story, every character sounded the same. This sameness made it particularly hard to distinguish between the 2 main characters. I never connected enough with any of the characters to truly care what happened to them.

Unfortunate.I like the writing style & the story was intriguing until an inappropriate relationship is romanticized. There is explicit sexual contact between the adult male & 13year old girl . However, the relationship is romanticized & sexualized throughout the book, beginning with her as a younger child. It was disappointing.
