Took forever to get into it

For much of the story, it felt disjointed, hard to keep up with multiple characters from chapter to chapter. Finally, it came together, and I was glad I stuck it out. That is, until the last 12 minutes; it fell apart again. Overall not a bad read, just had a hard time with it.

Well written. However, I do feel the author should have noted a trigger warning for this story. Although fictitious, there are components in the story that are very disturbing. As a survivor, I had to walk away for a bit before finally resuming.

Although the narrator had a southern accent, which should have added to the story, every character sounded the same. This sameness made it particularly hard to distinguish between the 2 main characters. I never connected enough with any of the characters to truly care what happened to them.
