Utterly unique.

The author’s approach to the huge problem of race, privilege, and justice through the experiences and perspectives of three families was brilliant. I loved it.
Loved the story and characters but hate the narrator’s voice! She sounds like her nose is plugged and stuffy and barely any voice changes between characters. I would listen to this story more often if there was a better narration.
The reader do a great performance of differing characters with her voice. The book is a bit dark and touches on shady content. However it is a beautiful love story that can actually be real.
This was a difficult book to read, but like many other reviewers have said, I had to see it through. I’m so glad I did! I loved Wavy, and wanted to just crawl in the story to take care of her and Donal, which is what Kellan does. I’m so glad I finally listened to..
Such tragedy and love. Character development was well written and although the author didn’t fully explain all the little girl went through, it was hell nonetheless. She needed protection and what started as the love for a child turned into the deepest kind of love.
This is truly one of the best books I’ve listened to in maybe ever. I have over a 1000 in my library and to say that is a lot.
Kept feeling like I should quit listening. The subject matter was uncomfortable, but somehow I couldn’t. It captivated me and I wanted to see it through to the end. I was not disappointed.
My middle schoolers loved this book. Even after being hesitant to read sci-fi. They asked to read book two 🙂
