I loved this book! I found myself talking to the characters when I didn’t like what they choosing! Loved the final words of the story.
There’s a good story here, but I found it difficult to listen to the sex scenes between a 14 yr old girl and 24 yr old man. I powered through and in the end was glad I did because it’s a good story. The narrator is outstanding.
Talk about rooting for the underdog from the very beginning! The characters were very believable (unfortunately), parts of this story happen way to often to children although so very few have a hero like Kellan. I was so invested in Wavy, Kellan, and her little brother. I couldn’t wait to get to the last page..

Great oratory performance, the narrator’s cadence and tone were perfect for the text. This story’s circumstance was troubling as it was a testimony to emotional endurance. I recommend getting lost in it for a few days!
I loved how they immediately started like it was the same book as the first one. The voices are perfect for each character and I couldn’t imagine this any other way I loved it
The subject matter of this book is not for the faint of heart. As someone who works with children who have experienced trauma it was definitely a hard listen at times, but there was a thread of genuine intimacy that moved me forward despite it all. Another reviewer mentions the disturbing age gap between characters..
Some parts are a little disturbing. I had to stop and then go back to finish it but overall it’s a great read!!!!
Actual rating 3.5 stars. I enjoyed the writing style, of having separate chapters to get the main characters point of view. Ending got a bit confusing.
