Great story, but the narrators whisper most of the time. it’s a little painful reminiscent of our own pandemic.
The epilogue was most informative. The narrator was good. I found the stories not easy to follow. maybe I am weary under the weight of my grief. I may have enjoyed it more if that was not this stage of grief. My husband and spiritual partner of 51 years has been on the other side..
This coming of age romance has moments where you’ll wonder if reading makes you complicit in the “love” story between a child and a man. It was awkward to read at times but what I enjoyed was how authentic the story was. Wavy was so likable even though her rough upbringing. Kellen was a saving..
this book was about the truth that happens in the world. it is very well written and I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I would recommend this book but it’s not for the weak at heart or the up turned nose crowd. it’s about life the food bad and the..
I took off a star from the performance because the reader of Johanna sounded like she had a cold throughout the book, which distracted from the character. In all, a great book with a different perspective on the waning days of WW2, revealing an event that has been neglected in our history books.Highly recommended!
Liar’s Bench I’ve witnessed and as a woman experienced racism. I have the same reaction each, I pity them because I truly believe we are measured by the standards we measure others. It’s remarkable how these 2 young people are treated and yet how they treat others. A very up building story with a storyline..
I should have listened to the negative reviews. DO NOT waste your credit on this story. I first listened to Mary Kubica’s “Local Woman Missing” which was full of twists and turns and very entertaining. I downloaded this title hoping for the same kind of brilliant storytelling. No such luck. The book has its moments..
It’s a compelling story of survival and determination, beautifully written with such vivid detail. I liked the reader’s voice, which has not been the case with several Audible books.
I have to agree with many of the comments saying that this was difficult at times to listen to. However, it’s a Fantastic book!! There are many books with incest that are still a great book. Listen to this, you won’t be sorry.
