This is just wrong. It is glorifying child rape and the loss of innocence at a too young age.

The reviews tell me this: it evokes strong emotions and it creates an internal conflict between what we think is right vs what we feel for the characters. The internal conflict I felt about the characters is what makes this such a strong story. Yes, I believe that it’s wrong to have a romantic relationship..
I kept hoping that this would turn around. Wavy would heal and move on with her life and her future. When I was first reading it I thought maybe it really was innocent on kellens end. But it was not. The reader is incredible. However, the story romanticizes pedophilia and tbh I’m really not ok..
This novel opens up how different families can be. It had difficult content, and yet the end was somehow uplifting.
I’ve truly enjoyed this series. it’s funny and the plots are interesting. I like hearing about the protaganist’s journey and the other characters are very interesting. I’m a little tired of hearing about her boobs though! I think the author could let that subject matter go, we got it.
Not sure how this book has so many high reviews. This is a story about a 20 something year old man grooming a small girl child.
Ms. Sepetys’s stories speak to me. Also of Lithuanian heritage and a lover of historical fiction, it’s easy to see why that is the case; but it is the stories of people and how they endured the horrors of war, that keep me coming back to her work. Ms. Sepetys’s use of lesser known historical..
