I am currently obsessed with this genre of writing. And no pair does it better than the Horton/Pierce team!!!. Sit forward and enjoy this one.

I liked how descriptive the author. gets with the alcohol and the terminology he uses.

Because it’s you Boyd I’ll buy the other books but I hate cliff hangers. Usually I’d stop right now from buying and of your books. Since I’m a DD12 I’ll support you.

I like these authors as individual storytellers, but this is the book version of “Red Dawn.” Teenagers and all just not set in the 80’s. thank God. It did give a great sense of patriotism, but they seemed to have fast forwarded through a lot of the action. I’m glad they gave a shout out..

when I hear information about guns and it’s bad information or outright bs, it puts me off.

The writing is too mild mannered and clean for me. Everyone sounds so “nice/boring” and the characters have no personalities. I blame a lot on the narration. I like my end of the world, post apocalyptic, zombie books to be gritty and real….this definitely was not. I’m surprised at all the positive reviews.Also worth noting..

Parts are excellent. But I don’t get why the Pecos Trader doesn’t just leave Beaumont?

It wasn’t the best, nor the worst. I think it needed more conflict and less quick gratification.
