The characters are so relatable. Just normal people doing normal things when the world goes to hell. I like that we get to know Jim and his group on their journey home as well as Ellen and the rest of the family back home and all the different cities circumstances they themselves is to survive…
Goodwin has written a compelling novel series that entertains and teaches much about the end times through characters we can associate with everyday people we know. I hope he continues with another The Days of Elijah.

Conquistador, south of the border comes north. written before the real world happenings in the Mexican area named in the book. (no real spoilers mentioned). Intrigue, plans within plans. Backstabbing at its finest and coldest. A must read for the series, and fully standalone but highly recommend to read them all.
Travelers, is an extension of black autumn. It fills in gaps of what is happening during the main books time line. it brings things together in a realistic way. it keeps things action packed and informative. Making you want more. I do suggest starting at the beginning Black Autumn.
