I listened to this twice because it was so good. I am genuinely shocked that I hadn’t heard of this guy until recently given the horror of his crimes.
The detail and facts are great. But the characters are poorly contrived. The dialog seems very unrealistic. I found it hard to connect to the characters
Didn’t like the narrators. They were terrible. The book itself is very well written and there are so many details in it. Be prepared to cry though.
First of all I will listen to ANYTHING Kevin Pierce narrates. He is the absolute best in true crime. I appreciate his sensitivity to the subject matter. He reads with a great deal of respect for all people involved. I feel the same for the author. As for the book- this was a hard one..
Couldn’t put it down, it had me engrossed for hours and I enjoyed both narrators voices. very very good
I wanted to like the story. The story line was good. I liked the idea of a female lead in an apocalypse. Unfortunately the sexism, calling women b’s, and racism ruined the story. It’s possible for an author to write a book about racist or sexist characters without being those things but it occurred so..
No. Although I’m convinced Mr Pierce could read the phone book and have this listener enthralled, as a previous commenter mentioned this book has you hanging onto every word. I cannot count the times I hit “back” to catch a sentence while partially distracted at work. This is a sad listen but extremely well written..
Great book, just wish it was longer. Characters you get involved with and that keep you wanting more of there story. highly recommend! As always, Kevin Pierce does a great job telling the story.
I love this series so much. But as in all series, there has to be an “information” book to get you back up to speed. This was that book for me. It was definetly not my favorite, but was necessary to fill in the blanks. Can’t wait for the next book!
