this is the best series period. the writer leverages a setting in the mountains of western VA to show off the skills of the trained and prepared as well as the pain that those who are evil become in hard times. amazing writing that is both entertaining and educational.

Random tangents

This book has so many random tangents that are in no way relevant to the overall story. The story itself is minor and more about the detective, prosecuting attorney, and reporter and hardly about the case. Disappointing waste of time.
