Really enjoyed the characters. Kevin Pierce is why I buy books. Excellent as usual. I wish I could write books like these.
I feel like this book could be updated yearly. so much is changing in this environment. as a father of a young pitcher, I want to ensure as did the author I have as much knowledge as possible.
Huge fan of Abrahams and Pierce combo. They only things I didn’t like are the dumb decisions. Typical “Don’t go in there” kind of thing. The other thing is Jack’s wife, Betty. She argues about eeeeverything. Which is fine for most things. However, she does it in the middle of high stress and volatile situations…
This book was a true story that dragged on for a pointless 12 hours. So many Jack Olson books have been interesting stories of actual crimes but this just went on and on with no advancement of the story. (Not a spoiler) when they finally get a confession from the killer, the book goes right..
Oh how it’s so hard to listen to this story. It seemed like it could be great but the narrator is just a no for me. The main character isn’t a 70 yo man and he shouldn’t sound like it. The women all sound like simple minded ditzy women with the inflection given to them…
Ended to soon! It would’ve been better if it would’ve gotten the women and children to a safe place before ending
The author gives the characters very believable life. From the heroic to the vile; all entirely human. The survival information is incredibly accurate in most cases. Absolutely recommend.
Great story with personable characters. A lot of detail to keep track of. The good guys come out ahead in the end regardless of their losses. I have read the entire trilogy twice so far and will probably read it again just in case I missed something.
