Average book by all means. Nothing stands out from other post-apocalyptic novels. A LOT of repeated words you’ll hear every 2 minutes: demons, brother, and John Beck. It’s excessive. Not sure what happened with the writing but the series seemed as a filler until the next big series.
I love how the story reads, it really keeps the pace and the narrator was great. My only complaint is that it’s absolutely chock full of inaccuracies and errors…this is persistent throughout, it bothered me enough to make me “stumble”. I just kept thinking things like “how hard would it have been to just google..
