This is the second series of his that I have listened to. His books get me hooked from the beginning. I love that he inserts scripture and I pick up things that I have not caught when reading the Bible on my own. However, even if you are not a Christian, I believe you will..
It started off good but then in the second book the self righteous speeches started and kept going. That ruined it for me. I was just waiting for it to be over. Too preachy and the combat situations were unbelievable.
Would also make a great movie. Great listen for the prepper library. Have listened to this about 3 times now and the sequel is just as good.
I love coming across these microscopic tales of a post apolalyptic world where the “big one” has already happened, so to speak, and we get a glimpse into the fall out from the POV of one person going on surviving. This is a good story of survival and what it means to to still be..
Great read. Story develops with new characters and twists. recommend to anyone who enjoys action and faith interwoven.
Review from Surrender the Sun Series Boxset: Books 1-3 Apocalyptic Dystopian Thriller →
We does every apocalyptic novel so rapidly descend into bad guys. Seriously, society fell to murderers and thieves in like less than 12 hours. This is not my idea of survival fiction. More like true crime and thats not what i wanted to spend my credit on. Does a true survival novel actually exist? ugh

Characters were believable and doubly so with the magic imbued by Kevin Pierce. I noticeably cared about their fate, to include the dispensation of justice on foes who could be both entertaining and simultaneously loathed. The protagonists and allies were often liked, loved, admired, judged and fretted over. Though I am new to this genre..
