I started listening to this maybe before Covid and just finished it. One similarity to this is how fast life changes, being prepared mentally, physically and financially for the future is looking more real. We can look and laugh at the prepping others are doing but they are on point.
Basic business platitudes. At least it was brief. Probably best suited for true business beginners, or people who really need to go back to the basics.
Kevin Pierce’s narration is as per usual, fantastic! As for the storyline…more of Ragus’ and Shannon’s life before the Mad Mick comes out. It’s a great follow-up story to the first one, full of fun and smart arsed wit. Character development is great. You love them or love to hate them. I am off to book 3!
Some responses from some of the characters were not realistic… for example, the teen age girl whose father was murdered execution style and mother kidnapped and later murdered quickly starts calling two people she hardly knows “mom” and “dad”… a lot of trauma just occurred for this young girl and acting like her parents are..
As suggested by Audible ratings guidelines, this is a “pretty good” telling of a grim story. Author Olsen covers the ground in meticulous detail, including large sections of riveting courtroom testimony in his account of the Tanya Reid case. Olsen’s use of literary devices such as metaphors and similes results in a swamp of purple..
I can’t say this is my favorite series of books but it makes you think. Not everyone is going to agree with the story line or enjoy the Bible verses but the story was well written and the narration was excellent. I enjoyed the series .
