It becomes clear early on that the writers will treat AI as a separate species from humans. They aren’t. Large language models/ neural networks aren’t even alive, let alone sentient, let alone a species. Thats what the whole hypothesis hinges on and it’s dumb. AI is a tool. It’s an extension of human intelligence.

The book gets a little preachy, but I assume you can get that from the title. It is a side that has to be made and the author makes a decent case for their beliefs. Even if you disagree you still should listen for an alternative perspective.
