the logical explanation of something that is so huge it will blow your mind. Knowing how AI works is the key to understanding why will all die. Great read/ listen
It becomes clear early on that the writers will treat AI as a separate species from humans. They aren’t. Large language models/ neural networks aren’t even alive, let alone sentient, let alone a species. Thats what the whole hypothesis hinges on and it’s dumb. AI is a tool. It’s an extension of human intelligence.
The authors are earnest and masterful in their delivery. The logic is similar to climate predictions. It follows that they are likely correct, so it’s a pretty important book for our time.

Great title. Must be read or listened to by as much people as possible. Eye opening.
I think we are all eventually doomed. First, we will lose the jobs, but the next steps after that are far worse. There will be no safety valve or kill switch. We are nearing the point of no return, funded by trillion dollar companies building billion dollar AI data centers, propping up the entire economy..
It would be nice if this book explained exactly how this threat kills us. There were nice examples of what AI is capable of but not how it plays out once ASI is achieved.
The arguments are a revelation. I will try to pass them on to anyone who might listen.

The book gets a little preachy, but I assume you can get that from the title. It is a side that has to be made and the author makes a decent case for their beliefs. Even if you disagree you still should listen for an alternative perspective.
