The world building in this was amazing! The characters themselves are alright, but the worlds and the magic was awesome. There were a few parts that weren’t that good and the end felt rushed.

I have listened to the Rafe Beckley as narrator version of “Half a Soul” over and over and over. His narration has added immensely to my enjoyment of the book. I am sad to see that his narration is no longer available.
Former Prime Ministers Rudd’s excellent book should form a blueprint to de escalate tensions between Washington and Beijing- my fear is in the current environment it will fall on deaf ears.

I was expecting a bloodbath and got a dull swim. This was less about aquatic adventure than academic redemption. I would have preferred an exploration of aquatic society, a underwater haunted house, a gorrible gorrible toothy ending… but what I got was a body hunt for a teaching position at Oxford. Boo!

You may not agree with the 10 concentric circle framework, personally I think it helps the structure of the book more than the analysis itself, but the content is first rate. As a Chinese reasonably literate in domestic politics, I am impressed by Mr. Rudd’s insights. Highly recommended if you want to improve your odds..
