This book is a perfect blend of world building and engaging text without channeling J.R.R Tolkien and 18 years of tree descriptions. Perfect balance of a foundation with a healthy dose of rooting for the underdog and a great start to an even better series. Even better re-reading and seeing just how far our protagonist..

still good

my second run through the series in preparation for the final book and this part still felt underwhelming and incomplete. I understood better this time that the book is focused, centered, and plotted around yerrin than Lindon, specifically overcoming her blood shadow… not that that’s a done deal. anyways, it’s still good but it’s tough..
Loved it so much
