I have been reading/listening to GameLit for years now and I appreciate that this book feels like an excellent standard. it fits so many of the tropes and yet still feels fresh. I also enjoyed seeing characters make choices that don’t always seem like the obvious choice from a reader point of view. I look..
The only thing that kept this series from being a perfect classic was its “near” absolute refusal to go back to the main characters point of origin. No news from the Homefront doesn’t work when the Homefront is what drives the character. And it bugged me throughout the series. Still . . . . These..
This book was fantastic. The progression of the characters during this book was awesome. I enjoyed the story throughout this book and couldn’t stop listening. I stayed up 3 hours past when I had intended to go to sleep just to finish. It was great. Although, my biggest laugh was probably the last 30 seconds..
While I liked book 1 on this series, I have to admit I liked this one better. MC gets more into the challenges that year him away from his wife and there’s a nice twist at the end. Good flow throughout. Ethan has an uncanny ability to make powerful enemies though! Hope it doesn’t come..
This author delivers a great story with nuanced character development offering flawed individuals that you also can’t help but empathise with. Excellent narrative structure and pulpy enough to entertain us horror fans this book is a great combination of literary and pop styles. Wonderful narration as well.
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and any opinions expressed herein are my own. This is an entertaining start to the series with captivating and well-rounded characters. As this is the first book, there is a lot of wonderful world-building but there is still plenty of action. In addition..
This feels like a Dresden fanfic or spinoff. The magic and world isn’t well told. There is barely any magic used by lazurus even though he keeps talking about using it. all in all its ok.
This second book leaves me wanting more, more of Ethan and his adventures. This was a great follow up to the first book. I just hate having to wait for the next to see what will come for Ethan and his friends. Ethan does gain a great deal of knowledge through this novel but not..
I received this listen in exchange for an honest review. This is a good start on what could develop into a fine fantasy adventure. The characters are believable and has a mixture of action and intrigue. Well worth the listen.
