Enjoyed this Audible presentation of “The Correspondent.” A magnificent book told in the twilight of a strong woman’s life.
This is a book of letters to and from the main character, maybe not for everyone. I initially found it hard to keep the characters straight but it didn’t take long to figure out who was who, even without names of who the letters were to or from. The story pulled you in, often sad..
The entire book was nothing more than one correspondence after another and at times it seemed a little tedious. However, it was provocative and illustrative the sadness and regret of the human condition interpolated with some kindness and joy.
I was interested in the story but it was hard to continually hear narrator excite the entire address of who corresponded and who wrote..really tedious to hear …would have liked it so much more if the addresses were shortened ..with a simple note at beginning that book was edited that way the story would play..
The narrators inflection in their voices was very good didn’t love hearing the addresses repeated so often
This was such an elegant, amazing story of an amazing woman full of life, regrets, sorrow, stubbornness and redemption. Beautifully narrated, ingeniously plotted. Would highly recommend!!
