I just listen without stopping. The book asked me a lot of things to think and reflect.

One of the most enjoyable books I have read in a long time. Totally different than what I expected. I did get confused at times with the number of characters.

Such a touching story. The narration was wonderful-voices were spot on for each character and brought the story to life.

Such a lovely listen. Stories of family and devastation and love written through letters. Really beautiful. One must shake their head at the self-absorbed Sybille but she comes to be likeable and very lovable.

At first, I was put off by listening to the progressive correspondences. How I could I follow, perhaps I should read the written pages instead? This is a beautiful story of a lovely woman who is navigating life through written word. Sybil feels so real & I miss her letters already. From start to finish, I was captivated.

Unexpected, touching, beautifully written and performed. What a beautiful story a well lived life. What a lesson about longevity and the complexity of humanity and the gift of old age. Absolutely inspiring.

This title didn’t grab me when I read the synopsis, but then a friend highly recommended this book. The protaganist, Cybil, is a woman in her 70s who is meticulous, demanding — and can also be very kind. As the letters she sends and receives reveal more of her to herself — and to us!..

The voice of these characters is so real, raw, and indelible in my heart—I know it will sit in my heart for many years to come.

I liked all the methods of correspondence used to tell Sybil’s story, and to bring all the unrelated characters into the story as they knew Sybil, and though they didn’t know one another, all had an affect on Sybil, how she lived her life, and how she reached peace for herself before she died.
