I liked how it came full circle, more or less, and how it chronicles Sybil’s life. I didn’t care for the constant repeating of correspondence addresses. it got a bit tedious.
Didn’t like her political commentary – it prejudices the reader one way or another. Artists are skilled but feel free to take on political commentary. I got past it and enjoyed the novel a great deal.
Sometimes an audio book leads you to purchasing the book. Itwas so well written, I loved all the references to authors I have read for over 40 years, and I loved her musings on life, and her life post career. And I loved the fact that she initiated communication and actually wrote letters!
I will admit the format of this was hard to get used to at first (everything that happens is experienced through reading correspondence) but once I adjusted, I realized how genius it is. Really amazing book.
Loved the imagination & detail throughout. Compelling story told through letter writing—an inspiration to get back to that kind of correspondence.
Everything about this book is outstanding and worth taking the time to listen to and read. There’s a kindness to each character and how that is revealed over time as the story is told. I want to commend someone we don’t always think about: the person who chose what performers read the various parts of..
Though at first leery of the format, I soon found myself totally immersed in Sybil’s story. And the format works. As the story gradually unfolds, I both wanted to hurry to the next letter and to slowly savor each.
