Carl’s Doomsday Scenario takes everything that worked in the first book and turns it up several levels. The story moves faster, the stakes feel higher, and the dungeon becomes even more creative, dangerous, and completely unpredictable.
The narration continues to be outstanding. The narrator gives every character a distinct personality and switches between voices so naturally that it feels like listening to a full cast. The author’s detailed descriptions make the action easy to visualize without slowing the story down, and the world continues to feel both ridiculous and strangely believable.
What really makes the book stand out is the humor. Even during the most intense or disturbing moments, the dialogue and absurd situations are genuinely hilarious. It’s chaotic, clever, action-packed, and surprisingly emotional. By the end, I was completely invested in Carl and Princess Donut.
