I didn’t choose this one — my husband did, as part of a bookstore ritual where he picks a book for me every visit. He’s not a reader, but somehow he’s never missed. This was no exception.
Dungeon Crawler Carl is action-packed, genuinely funny, and — surprisingly — emotionally resonant in ways I didn’t see coming. Matt Dinniman’s writing style is where the book really shines: clever, irreverent, and wholly original. It exceeded every expectation I walked in with.
If you’re a gamer, a LitRPG fan, or just someone who loves a good underdog story wrapped in dark humor and sci-fi chaos, this is an easy pick. But honestly? I’d recommend it to almost anyone. You don’t need to be “a genre person” to love it.
