The shenanigans and tall tale hype man crap going on is HILARIOUS!
But the story is actually really good. It’s a fun system for stats and abilities, and the floors are definitely interesting. The MC, William Oh is kinda dumb but also kind of a genius? He’s got simple desires- to eat delicious bread, punch his parents in the face, and climb to the top of the tower to become the greatest lord and makes lots of money. He’s a natural tower climber and combatant, with an unending tenacity to keep surviving.
The side characters are also very interesting and I love that the kobald is the smartest one of them all.Williams luck is a mix of good and bad, but he makes it work.
The multiple narrators as cameos are fantastic, there’s even a theme song! I o my even learned about this book from a Facebook reel of my fav narrators making insane boasts about William Oh and I just HAD to check it out. 10/10 I recommend. I will DEFINITELY be listening to ALL of the books whenever they come out. Because this is book 1 and is phenomenal right out of the gate!
