This series continues to outdo itself, and The Eye of the Bedlam Bride is the most powerful entry yet. Matt Dinniman masterfully balances the high, octane chaos of the dungeon with a chilling look at the ‘system’, showing the cold, bureaucratic indifference of the galactic government as they manipulate the lives of the crawlers for sport. While the writing is top-tier, what has always solidified this series in the 5-star category for me is Jeff Hays’ performance. His ability to bring dozens of distinct characters to life with such emotional depth is unparalleled; he doesn’t just read the story, he inhabits it. This installment is dark, strategic, and emotionally heavy, proving once again that this is the best LitRPG series on the market. God dammit, Donut!
