I’ve been waiting forever for this book, and it absolutely delivered.

The tenth floor somehow takes a simple concept—racing—and turns it into pure Dungeon Crawler Carl chaos. The deeper Carl and Donut go, the more questions I have about the dungeon, the AI, and whatever nightmare is waiting on future floors. Every answer seems to create ten new mysteries, and I am completely invested.

Carl continues to be powered by stubbornness, trauma, and increasingly dangerous ideas, while Princess Donut remains one of the greatest characters ever written.

The biggest surprise for me was how invested I’ve become in the side characters. Imani was a standout, and somehow Matt Dinniman has once again convinced me to care deeply about a screaming goat.

As always, Jeff Hays is phenomenal. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear this was a full cast production. The range, emotion, and character voices are simply unmatched.

The only disappointment? Not nearly enough AI foot-fetish jokes.

Now excuse me while I spend the next several months creating conspiracy theories about the next Floor.
