I was looking for something new to read happened upon this book. I admit that I didn’t expect much but the prologue hooked me. I can see some of the inspirations for Hoplite, and that did make it easy to predict certain events. However, it was still a fun listen.
The problem lies within the listen. I enjoyed the narrators, but with the length of the book, and how often each one got to speak. Why not let each narrator voice their respective characters and others? There was also a bit of a problem with the direction of the voices, Tuji especially. There were parts of theirs that I could kind of understand.
The story though, is excellent. I love the world building that goes throughout. The discriptions, if a bit wordy at times, were really good.
I both love and hate that I found this story at the beginning, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
