This book got me out of a 2 month reading slump!!
One of the best books I’ve read in a long time! Carl and Princess Donut are hilarious together and I can’t wait to continue this series. Although they are the main characters in this book, other character’s stood out and were also memorable- Mordecai, Odette, the Meadow Lark party, and Mongo.
Leaning a little about Carl’s past (and a few other character’s backgrounds) helped remind me that, although this is an LitRPG/Sci-fi book, the character’s are still human and have feelings.
This book was very fast-paced, and as an introduction to the series, there was a lot going on as Carl and Princess Donut try to make it to level 3 and find Carl a pair of pants. It made me laugh (probably every other page) and gave me Ready Play One meets Hunger Games vibes mixed with some nostalgia.
I also listened to the audiobook while reading the physical book and Jeff Hays did a PHENOMENAL job narrating. Probably one of the best narrations I’ve ever heard!!! He brought this book and the character’s to so much life!!!
I can’t wait to continue this series and so glad I decided to read Dungeon Crawler Carl!!
