I loved this story when I first read it and now that it’s in audio it’s even better! Joel Leslie does a wonderful job at narrating and gives each character their own voice. I’ll be honest and say that the accents caught me a bit off guard at first. Even though from reading the book I knew the MCs had Boston and Irish accents, I never actually heard the accents in my head while I read. So while Leslie’s accents took me a minute to get used to, I grew to love them and they truly give the characters more life.

The story itself is easily a 4-4.5 Star read for me with its unique plot, engaging characters, magic, mystery, and swoon-worthy romance. There’s humor and heartache, and at the center of it all, a passion and relationship that I can’t wait to watch bloom as the series continues.

S.J. Himes is definitely an author to look out for, and there hasn’t been a single book of hers that I haven’t enjoyed (Including the books written under her pen-name Revella Hawthorne)! Do yourself a favor and check out The Necromancer’s Dance ASAP!
