I liked the premise of a long dead necromancer learning about how the world has changed since he was last active. I was super down for fun silly bone puns but… jeeze.
It’s like reading someone’s weird edgy fanfiction about how everyone wants to look up the nonbinary person’s skirt (it’s not very good representation if that was what you were hoping for) and tentacle grape based jokes (if your confused take out the g), The “joking” about this subject is where it completely lost me.
I listened to the whole book hoping the story or characters would progress or get better in any meaningful way, and they really.
The one thing that I can say about it is that the performance from Soundbooth Theater narrators are pretty good, I would not have finished this book if I had to read it but having it play in the background while hoping it would get better allowed me to finish the book if nothing else. If you were thinking of picking this up because it has Jeff Hays attached don’t bother, he plays a very minor role.
