This is my first time writing a letter to a fictional character, but somehow it feels right. I’m not really the type of person who writes, I prefer reading. Yet after learning your story, I felt compelled to try.
Your life moved me more than I expected. Your strength, your honesty, the way you spoke your mind without fear, and the way you owned your mistakes when they were yours to carry. There was something beautiful about how real you were — flawed, thoughtful, funny, stubborn at times, but deeply human.
And I especially loved that even in the later chapters of your life, you still found your own little adventure.
When I finished the book, I found myself wishing, wanting to receive a letter from you. It sounds crazy, I know… but that’s how real you felt. I’m not ready to say goodbye yet.
Please write me back.

Postscript: The flowers that I saw this weekend reminded me you and your garden.
I didn’t know it was possible to come to know someone so deeply through letters. Thank you, @virginia.l.evans , for bringing Sybil into our lives.
