This is an entertaining book, but clumsily written. The author seems to struggle to remain in one point of view. The main character is pretty awful. In his view women are one step above useless at best, and poor people are mostly inept murderers who feel entitled to handouts. You get the feeling the author probably talks a lot about the mainstream media, second amendment rights, and bootstraps in real life. If there’s a character the main character doesn’t like, they’ll be killed off pretty quickly, while those he does like have some amazing plot armor, in one case literally. That being said, it’s fun to listen to, and I’m going to get the sequels. The plot moves well, the ideas for survival are cool, and the premise is good overall. The narrator is fabulous as well.
