I’ve always had a soft spot for stories with vampires like most millennials. I had high hopes for this one. The prison escape and traveling together, then finding out who he really was. I love a good slow burn, but this book just fell flat for me. I didn’t find myself being truly worried for her because she just kept putting herself in danger like an imbecile. He would show up in the nick of time to save her and then she would be upset with how he dealt with the situation. It was all so stereotypical and predictable.
That being said, I found the world the author painted as interesting. I wanted to learn more about how everything operated and what other species lived in the other realms. You get a few insights and I’ll more than likely return to read the second book when it releases in June. The ending did finally pick up and I’m keen to learn what the little viper has planned.
