I was recommended this series by my brother-in-law. First book had me love the writing by Matt, the performance by Jeff, and the amazing concept of the Dungeon and all the complexities behind it. This book continued a lot of the things I loved – Matt’s hilarious prose, Jeff’s impressive amount of unique and memorable voices – but Matt managed to bring a lot of powerful emotions to the plights of Carl and Donut. I found myself snort-laughing like I had before, but there were situations where characters amazed me, I was left angry or downhearted, or I found myself as confused as Carl trying to figure out what was really going on. I highly recommend this series, as the powerhouse combo of Matt and Jeff have made Dungeon Crawler Carl as a series one of my top “must reads!”
