This story is so much better than the first. The characters grow in unexpected ways, the twists are amazing, and Gary’s snark is even more fun. My favorite thing about this is the dynamic of Gary, Mandy, Gabby and Selina. It’s complicated and messy, just like real relationships. But above it all, Gary truly loves Mandy and always will.

Kafer’s inability to create unique vocal characters is even more apparent in this book. There were times I couldn’t tell if the person speaking was supposed to be male or female. Kafer’s voice works for Gary, but no one else. Also, this is a bit nitpicky, but at one point Diablo Man, a character of Mexican decent, says “Bruja”. It’s Spanish for witch. It’s supposed to be pronounced Bru-ha, but Kafer says the J like an English speaker.
