My hope was that this installment would bring with it significant growth of the author in comparison to the first book, which was mediocre. Unfortunately, after listening for 5 hours while waiting and hoping for more it just didn’t come. Although a narrator can make or break a book, I felt that this Mr. Hays walked the line of mediocrity as well. That said, the narrator didn’t have much to work with. Additionally, while I’m generally not a fan of special effects in audio books, I frequently found the story and characters so poorly defined that the effects made it easier to follow certain lines and context. However, many other books share this genre and have extremely similar plots / characters without any need for these effects.

In-short, this series is significantly outclassed by other authors in the genre and I can’t recommend it. I will be returning this book.
