While the tone gets much darker after the first book, the quality stays incredibly high. Fantastic characters, plot twists, game breaking mechanics, with different mechanics on every floor to keep things fresh, gradually unveiling the world building behind the crawl and the universe as a whole. Also the narration is ridiculously good. I thought that Jeff Hayes did all the narration in this series, and while listening to this book was like “wow, he’s doing a fantastic Travis Baldree impression” only to find out it was a guest appearance! Such good work. 🙂
