This could have been a great journey but failed by main character distraction. The FMC is a racist (in fantasy form) and a lier. I mean the needless lying is out of control, what even trope is that? I get that vampires are not real but her over the top judgement was so egregious I could not get past it. The entire story the MMC gives her safety, respect and comfort while her biases towards vampires takes up each page. It was written in every. single. chapter. As someone who reads 200 novels a year this one takes the cake on an author disguising female fear for blatant racism. It was ick all the way. The amount of time she lied to all those taking care of her was just ick. It totally destroyed the momentum of the story. This is the worst book I have rated in 2025. It is the only book I have ever given a one star review. I will not continue the series and I really recommend this to no one.
