Madison has had to keep most of her past a secret. She prefers to stick on her own and the only time she likes to be in the spotlight is when she’s onstage fulfilling her mother’s legacy. But when someone starts following her she begins to lean on the guy who already saved her once. Despite trying her best to keep Jamie at arm’s length, he’s persistent, safe, and comfortable and determined to protect her at all costs.
When things begin to escalate and all her skeletons come out of the closet, will Jamie be able to keep her safe?
This one was definitely darker than the first book so check those TW. It was also a lot steamier than the first book which I personally enjoyed. This book follows kind of a similar trajectory, girl in trouble, boy saves girl, girl reluctantly allows boy to help her, she falls for him, boy ultimately helps save her life. There were a lot of sweet moments of new love and I know I already said it but it warrants repeating that the steam in this one was impeccable.
The narrators did a fantastic job bringing these two characters to life. Jamie’s narrator really captured the duality of his character playing up his fun loving side as well as his serious protector alpha side. While with Madison’s character we really got her anxiety, fear and apprehension as she reluctantly gave into her feelings then fully embraced her love for Jamie.
If you’re a fan of romantic suspense, protective and obsessive alpha heroes, damsels in distress, and found family vibes then I think you’ll really enjoy this one too!
I’m so excited for Wes and Max next because I can just tell their story is going to be a tension filled angst fest and I am here for it.
