I waited to post this review because I needed to learn new words to describe how awesome Joel Leslie’s performance in narrating Lord Mouse. Sadly, with all my education, I cannot find any other words other than the barely adequate ‘brilliant’, ‘entertaining”, engrossing’, ‘genius’.
Joel is stellar when he takes on a story – he portrays all the characters distinctly – but in Lord Mouse, he was absolutely perfect to me. If I had read the book, I may have noted a few inconsistencies within the story, but since I was listening to Joel, not only did I not notice, but (when they were pointed out in a few reviews), I did not care!
If there are Oscar-type awards for narrators – The Golden Mic Awards (I can dream), I would bet my savings that Joel Leslie would walk away with at least 1 golden mic trophy a year.
I wonder they give knighthoods for narrators? I like the sound of Lord Joel 🙂
