Who else knew being a final girl was a green flag 🙋🏻♀️
Between the slasher and romcom movie mentions, their genre rule references, and the FMC being a walking slasher encyclopedia, this book was a f*cking joyride.
And although I’m not into romance, this story was such a great mashup of love and death that I was hooked from page one.
But I will say my macabre little heart enjoyed the blood and gore and messy kills the most 🖤
And although this was my first time reading this book, the characters taking on the names of our favorite slasher film final girls, masked killers, and directors created a nostalgic and intimate layer to this story.
Also the 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 quotes at the beginning of each chapter? The cherry on top to the comedic genius of this book.
I wasn’t gobsmacked by the reveal, but the comic absurdity of this book was so much fun that I didn’t mind.
This book is a testament to love, dating, the perils and uncertainties of each, the red flags we all overlook, badass females, and the knowledge that first impressions aren’t always correct…especially when that person you were sure was the killer is now dead and your fav dress is permanently stained with blood.
🎧: The audio was absolutely fantastic! Stefanie nailed Jamie’s character and really brought her to life as both a leading lady and a final girl. It was also great that Patrick narrated the male characters as his and Stefanie’s combined narration really brought a cinematic feel to the audiobook.
